For this grooming comb, we asked nine suppliers for offers, and ordered the product ourselves before a single one went into the store. We tested it on the two things you buy a comb like this for: does it pull out the loose undercoat, and does it comb the coat smooth afterwards? For deshedding, we looked at how much fur comes out per stroke and whether that happens without pulling, even with a dog that won't sit still. For combing, whether the teeth glide through the coat without snagging on tangles. A few candidates were dropped: material too light, or they mostly caught the top coat instead of the loose fur underneath. This one stayed: it removes the undercoat effortlessly, combs smooth afterwards, and you see the difference right away, in the comb and on the couch.
